The Wedding Direcor

It is most helpful to have someone familiar with the church and the wedding ceremony assist the wedding party at the time of the rehearsal and on your wedding day. Therefore, GFUMC's wedding director will assist the wedding couple and the bridal party. She will, among other things:

  • Give a tour of the church and our facility to the bride.
  • Schedule the wedding and the rehearsal date with the church calendar.
  • Be the primary contact for the Bride concerning questions about the wedding and the church.
  • Assist the pastor at the rehearsal and at the ceremony, lining up attendants and starting them and the bride down the aisle.
  • Assist in the Parlor with dressing, pinning corsages and hair pieces; pinning boutonnieres on the gentlemen.
  • Direct guests in and out of the Sanctuary or Chapel.
  • Consult with the photographer and/or florist concerning church policies if the need arises.

    Please note:  If you hire another wedding consultant to help plan your wedding and reception, please be advised that they have no function at the church. Our wedding director will be at your service while you are in our building.

Weddings

First United Methodist Church provides a loving Wedding ministry for Brides and Grooms who desire a wedding celebration that is Christ-centered.  We offer a beautiful sanctuary--a wonderful setting for a wedding ceremony, or a chapel, for smaller wedding celebrations.

You will be assisted and guided through your event from beginning to end by our experienced wedding director, Claire Wigley.

Wedding Notes:

  • Being a member of our church is not a requirement.
  • An FUMC Gadsden Pastor or a pastor approved by our pastoral staff must officiate at all weddings.
  • Facilties for the Bridal Party to dress are available at the church.
  • Sanctuary seats up to 400 guests.
  • Chapel seats approximately 60 guests.
  • Pre-marital counseling is a requirement before marrying at FUMC Gadsden.
