United Methodist Women (UMW) is a faith-based membership organization of laywomen within The United Methodist Church. UMW members are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ in community with other women and advocating on behalf of women, children and youth around the world. United Methodist Women has been in mission for more than 140 years.  The Gadsden First United Methodist Women support several local as well as Mountain Lakes District and North Alabama Conference missions. Members are involved in Congregational Care, The Howell Erwin Medical Fund, The Altar Guild, and The Prayer Warriors.  In addition, members host the Exceptional Persons Party in the summer, occasional church receptions and decorate the Chrismon and Gathering Room Trees and the church for the Christmas season.
