COMMUNION
In Holy Communion, we remember and proclaim God's saving work through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We are reminded again of the gifts of God's grace and forgiveness given to each of us. In communion, we celebrate what God is doing among us and in us. This sacrament is often called by other names, including the Lord's Supper, the Last Supper and Eucharist.
In the United Methodist Church, Holy Communion is open to all persons. You do not have to be a member to participate. At First United Methodist Church, we celebrate Communion as part of our regular worship services throughout the year, generally on the first Sunday of the month as well as at special services such as Maundy Thursday and Christmas Eve.
What does the United Methodist Church believe about Communion?

The United Methodist Church recognizes baptisms from other faiths and churches.
What does the United Methodist Church believe about Baptism?
Baptism is a Covenant between an individual and God. It is God’s word to us, proclaiming our adoption by grace and our word to God, promising our response of faith and love.
First United Methodist Church of Gadsden welcomes your inquiry about the Sacrament of Baptism and we look forward to assisting your family with planning this special day. It is our desire to make your baptism a most memorable occasion.
Persons of all ages can be baptized at First United Methodist Church. We baptize by sprinkling water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Please contact the church office if you are interested in finding out more about scheduling a Baptism.
