Approximately 36% of GFUMC's annual budget supports missions and outreach that goes beyond the walls of our church into our community, across the country, and throughout the world.

             ♦  Mission Team supports missions and agencies in our community that serve others.

             ♦  Servant Ministries Team helps us to reach out to our community in new and exciting ways, challenging us to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ in the world.

♦  “Ladle of Love” Teams serve lunch to the hungry each Friday.

♦  The Friends of the ELC Consignment Sale offers quality clothing to the community and benefits the Early Learning Center, twice per year

Weekly Soup Kitchen:  Cook, Host and Serve on Fridays of each week.

Backpacks for Kids gives food for weekends for kids at the C.L.I.C.K. at East Gadsden UMC.

Collect stuffed animals for hospital ministry.

Quarterly, fill twenty bags with personal hygiene items for 13th place (a group home for teenage girls).

Gift to Gadsden:  Provide a program each summer offering free workshops to the community taught by our talented and gifted members. which will be July 26th-July 29th. 

Maintain a clothes closet which provides free clothing for the community.  

Bring a Bible Sunday.

Contribute monthly to Love Center, Manna, Upper Sand Mountain. Bring socks Sunday.  

Fill Christmas stockings for Salvation Army at Christmas.

Fill grocery bags with food at Thanksgiving for local agencies.

Help fund and work the community Thanksgiving dinner.

Mission Trip to Ecuador--July 2016

Plans are now being made for a summer mission trip to Ecuador through SIFAT.  This mission trip is open to families and individuals and there we will need at least 14 participants.

If you are interesting in signing up for this mission trip and would like more information, you can fill out the online form below.  You will be contacted by Andy Yarnell or Sheila Freeman with more details concerning the trip and the date for a planning meeting. Please note:  Fill out the form for more information, but remember this is not registration for the mission trip.

This mission site includes opportunities for medical missions, construction, and teaching (VBS Mission and Outreach). A determination of the exact nature of the mission trip will be dependent on the people who sign up for this trip.

The cost of the trip is estimated to be approximately $1900 per person including lodging and airfare.

Project Location: Calderon, on the outskirts of Quito at an altitude of about 9,500 feet

Length of Trip: 8 days (Saturday to Saturday) Additional full days are available at $75 per day. 

Lodging: : In Quito, Hotel Tambo Real – downtown Quito near many interesting sites, Amazonas Street, Quito indigenous market and fast food restaurants. Double or triple rooms with private baths with hot water, linens and towels provided, free internet service. Single rooms are available for an additional cost. Other lodging outside of Quito is site dependent.
