Journey Groups

What is a Journey Group?

Life is a journey. The most important part of the journey is our relationship with God and with others. A Journey Group is a small gathering of individuals (ideally 10-12 people) who help you grow in your loving relationship with both. We invite all people into a relationship with God and seek to create an outwardly focused community of Christ-followers. There are a variety of Journey Groups to meet your individual needs, as well as the diverse needs of the community.

Are Journey Groups new to Gadsden First?

While the name "Journey Group" is new, Gadsden First United Methodist Church already has many Journey Groups that offer unique opportunities for spiritual growth and discipleship. These groups connect people to a smaller community within the church where people are nurtured, cared for and grow in faith and love. Some of Gadsden First's Journey Groups currently include: short-term small groups, Wonderful Wednesdays study groups, United Methodist Women circles, men’s study groups, and traditional Sunday school groups.  Even if you are already part of one of these existing groups, we CHALLENGE you to be a part of a NEW Journey Group or perhaps become a Journey Group GUIDE or HOST. We hope to create new Journey groups for couples', men's, women's and single adult groups as well as life-stage and multi-generational experiences.

How Do I Find a Journey Group?

For additional Journey Group information or if you are interested in guiding or hosting a Journey group, contact Sheila Freeman @ 256-490-5018

What would be expected of me? (Glad you asked!)

• Faithfully attend your Journey Group • Participate in your Journey Group meetings
• Make new friends • Accept the challenge to grow in your faith

Get connected and be challenged to take the next step on your spiritual journey. No matter where you are in your faith journey, may you join with others to grow deeper in your faith in the coming year!
