  1:1 Technology Initiative

Gadsden City Schools proposed a plan to pilot a 1:1 Technology Initiative Program at Ray Thompson Elementary School in 4th and 5th grades.

The program will ultimately expand throughout the entire school district in 5th and 6th grades over the next four years.

Gadsden 21 will equip each student with a handheld device that will take the place of their textbook.

Objectives
  • One-to-one computing will facilitate teaching and learning by offering every student in the classroom independent computing power and Internet access throughout the school day.
  • Prepare students for life beyond high school (21st Century Skills – Digital Instruction).
  • When a student is in class, the iPad is in their immediate proximity and is used regularly and with purpose.
  • Encourage enrollment throughout our school district through the implementation of this program.

Outcomes

  • EXCELLENCE
  • Creates 21st Century Learners
  • Opens educational opportunities at all levels in our communities
  • Promotes student pride through creative opportunities as opposed to textbooks and worksheet assignments
  • Improve Academic Achievement
